Readers planning on purchasing a Radeon HD 7900-series card will receive a download key for the aforementioned Sleeping Dogs and further keys for Hitman Absolution (released November 20) and Far Cry 3 (released late-November), as well as a 20 per cent discount off Medal of Honor: Warfighter Digital Deluxe version (available October 23). Running from today, AMD is upping the bundling ante and providing up to three free games and a discount on a fourth. Underscoring this fact, right now, AMD provides Sleeping Dogs with select Radeons, while NVIDIA is bundling Borderlands 2 with GeForce GTX 660 Ti and above graphics cards. In recent times, however, both companies have stepped-up the bundling of well-reviewed games. The purpose of these seemingly altruistic gestures is to optimise the games engines used in triple-A titles, such that a headline game runs better on your hardware. Radeon GCN gaming bundleĪMD and NVIDIA's developer-relation teams provide a wide range of support resources and money to various software houses. The first part details a new-and-improved bundle while the second aims to enhance across-the-board performance with a new driver designed and optimised wholly for the GCN architecture. Rather than indulge in further price-cutting against NVIDIA's comparable 6-series GeForce cards, AMD, starting today, is instigating a two-pronged initiative under the 'Never Settle' banner. As long-time HEXUS readers will know, AMD has transitioned practically all of its graphics processing units (GPUs) to an underlying architecture known as Graphics Core Next (GCN), which was first brought to market in December last year. Whether it will help stem the worrying losses AMD is currently experience, however, remains to be seen.Ĭatalyst 12.11, which we refuse to call by AMD's ridiculous moniker, will be available to download from AMD's support site shortly - at the time of writing, the latest non-beta download is still 12.8.The traditional holiday season approaches and AMD is looking to provide serious impetus for its mid-range and high-end Radeon graphics cards. The games package is pretty strong, especially at the top end, and a clear answer to rival Nvidia's bundling of Borderlands 2 with selected boards of its own. The exact boost on offer varies depending on title and settings, but AMD is claiming framerate increases of just shy of 10 per cent on games including Borderlands 2, Civilization V, DiRT Showdown, Skyrim, Sleeping Dogs, Sniper Elite V2 and StarCraft II at resolutions between 1920x10x1600. If that's not enough to tempt you into the red camp for you next upgrade, AMD has also launched version 12.11 of its Catalyst driver package - now known, and we're not making this up, as ' The Never Settle Driver Catalyst 12.11' - with promised performance boosts in a range of games. If your budget doesn't stretch that far, buying either a Radeon HD 7800 or Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition on its own will get you Far Cry 3 plus the 20 per cent off voucher for Medal of Honor: Warfighter. If you prefer a bit of CrossFire action, buying two HD 7800s will get you everything bar Sleeping Dogs, as will the purchase of a pair of Radeon HD 7770 GHz Editions. To get your hands on the top-spec bundle, which includes copies of Sleeping Dogs, Hitman: Absolution and Far Cry 3, along with a voucher for 20 per cent off Medal of Honor: Warfighter, you'll need to be shelling out for one of the company's top-end Radeon HD 7900 boards. The Never Settle bundle packages a selection of new-release titles with selected AMD graphics boards, depending on which board you buy. AMD has announced that it's going to be pushing its graphics hardware with a new games bundled, dubbed Never Settle, coinciding with the release of the final Catalyst 12.11 drivers and a claimed significant boost in performance.
